Requirements

In order to use the remoteCam package, you'll need a camcorder with :

  • A/V IN capability

[ Note : this is Analog Audio/Video IN - not DV IN ]

Simple Test : Using the supplied cable with your camcorder, put it into VCR mode and try recording from another source - TV / VCR / etc. Most miniDV camcorders allow IN and OUT through the AV port, but some older models don't. When operating the remoteCam, you will want the camcorder in VCR mode - NOT Camera mode.

  • LANC  [ optional ]

This plug allows you to connect the single button remote control. Most miniDV Sony's and Cannon's have this plug somewhere on them. Look for the blue plug like this. This isn't essential - you can still operate the camera maunally in VCR mode to start / stop recording.
